Yesterday, the online New Orleans Times Picayune said:
"No one can say they didn't see it coming."
This morning George Bush said:
"I don't think anyone anticipated the breach of the levees."
Somebody needs to tell the President that the reason the evacuation order was given for New Orleans is that the levees were built to withstand a category 3 hurricane, and this was shaping up to be a category 4 or 5. In other words, the breach was not only anticipated, it was the basis of the failed attempt to move the entire population of New Orleans out from behind the levees to higher ground.
